Product Introduction
APPLICATION
These include low voltage and medium voltage SWA steel wire armour cable, and all sizes of these widely used armoured power cables with current ratings up to 35kV. For single core cables, aluminium wire armour - AWA - is used to prevent induced current in the armour. Armoured power cables are available with both copper and aluminium conductors as required.
The armour provides additional protection where mechanical stress has the potential to cause damage to the cable, such as direct burial, outdoors or underground. The armour also enables the cable to withstand higher pulling loads. It should be noted, however, that the armour provides no protection for climatic conditions.
Armoured cables are often referred to as steel wire armoured cables, SWA cable, mains power cable, single core power cable, and multi-core booklet armoured cable.
Armoured Control Cable,450/750V Control Cable
Control cable are suitable for the wiring of electric controlling equipments and instrument, monitoring and controlling return circuit ,electrical protection and measurement in power distribution unit under the circumstance that the rated voltage is up to 450/750 AC.
Qingzhou Cables' range of armoured cable is available with a Copper (Cu) or Aluminium (Al) conductor and with a Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) sheathing, LSZH sheathings are recommended for use in high density enclosed areas, and are mandatory in some public places.
ARMOURED CABLE CONSTRUCTION
Typically, the construction of an aluminium or steel wire armored cable comprises six components:
Conductor: plain stranded copper or aluminium
Insulation: materials such as cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) provide high temperature resistance and excellent dielectric strength-providing enhanced electrical properties.
Bedding: a layer to create a protective barrier between the insulation and the armour.
Armour: a steel or aluminium armour provides mechanical protection to allow the cable to withstand the mechanical stresses to which it is exposed.
Sheath: the constituent parts of the cable are held together by a sheath offering a further level of protection. Black sheaths can be carbon-loaded for UV stability.
Voltage: voltage ratings of 600/1000V, 1.9/3.3KV, 6.35/11kV and 19/33kV.

MEDIUM VOLTAGE CABLES
Cross-sectional area: generally 35mm² up to 100mm²
Number of cores: generally one or three
Solid or stranded aluminium conductors: for applications requiring a lighter cable weight, also often more economical due to lower aluminium prices.
Stranded copper conductors: for applications requiring a smaller overall diameter and higher transmitting properties.
Bedding: Bonded or strippable out semi-conducting layer
Water tightness: longitudinal, longitudinal + quasi-radial, longitudinal + radial
Insulation layers (conductor screen, insulation and insulation screen): XLPE, which is more commonly used for MV cables, or EPR which is more flexible and often better suited to marine and offshore applications.
Metallic screen: to nullify the electric field outside the MV cable. Concentric copper wire screens, Aluminium foil laminate, or extruded lead alloy sheath.
Twisted three-core cable or triplex
Armouring: for mechanical protection. Aluminium wire armoured for single-core cables, Galvanised steel wire armour, strip or tape.
Tapes: Separator tapes to facilitate peeling, water-swellable tapes to prevent water ingress, Conductive tape for core binding.
Outer Sheath: compounds with various properties, tailored to the specific application's requirements, including resistance to oils, greases, rodents, termites, UV and flame, as well as zero halogen emissions.
